Bryan ISD Board of Trustees with Mark McCall and wife, Carolyn, on Mr. McCall's last board meeting.

During Monday's Board Workshop meeting, the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees recognized Mark McCall as he concludes his service as a board member.

"We want to thank and appreciate Mr. Mark McCall for his dedication and service as a Board of Trustee member," Board President Dr. Julie Harlin said.

Mr. McCall was first elected to the school board in 2015 to serve the students, faculty and staff of Bryan ISD. During his tenure on the board, he sat on the 2019 and 2020 bond election committees, helped in the process of hiring two superintendents, and served as board president through the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was involved in many bond construction activities, Dr. Harlin said, especially related to curriculum and instruction related to technology and Career and Technology Education programs.

Dr. Harlin said they estimated Mr. McCall has been coming to the current Administration Building (formerly SFA High School and then SFA Middle School) for about 20 years in his roles as a Bryan ISD parent, former teacher and board member.

"We're grateful for the many hats that you have worn, Mark, and for all that you have done to keep this district moving forward in so many positive ways," Dr. Harlin said. "So with that we are going to present you with a beautiful silver platter that is inscribed, 'Bryan Independent School District. Thank you for your dedicated service to the students, faculty and staff of Bryan Independent School District. Mark McCall 2015-2024.' We congratulate you and are grateful."

Mr. McCall did not run for re-election, and David Stennis, who ran unopposed for the open At-Large Place 7 seat, will be sworn in to his new post on Friday, along with returning board member Ruthie Waller. Ms. Waller also ran unopposed to continue serving Single Member District 4.
